Maximize the utility of
imaging biomarkers
to the benefit of
patients with arthritis.
Learn more about the project

AutoPiX is a major international project focused on improving healthcare for people with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMDs).

The AutoPiX project brings together pharmaceutical and medical technology partners with leading academic institutions to enhance the use of imaging biomarkers for patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), psoriatic arthritis (PsA), and axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA), collectively known as systemic arthritides.

It aims to develop advanced imaging tools and artificial intelligence (AI) models to better diagnose, monitor, and treat these conditions. These tools will make use of imaging biomarkers—like X-rays, ultrasounds, and MRIs—to provide more precise and personalised care.

EURICE – European Research and Project Office GmbH

Founded in 2000, the European Research and Project Office GmbH (EURICE) provides comprehensive support services for the planning, initiation, and implementation of international collaborative research and innovation projects. Today, EURICE ranks among Europe’s largest project management offices. In addition to offering backbone services for successful project management, EURICE is also managing impact and innovation in all areas of research and innovation projects. In order to pave the way for successful project exploitation, EURICE supports consortia in identifying, capturing, protecting and nurturing the intellectual assets generated in research collaborations. Thus, EURICE accompanies researchers and innovative companies through the entire life cycle of a project – from the first idea to successful project completion – and beyond.

What is the role of EURICE in Autopix

EURICE as the Project Management Office will be part of the Coordination Team and will work closely with the Coordinator and Project Lead. EURICE will be a key driver for overall project monitoring and organization. EURICE is co-leading Work Package 8 ‘Knowledge valorisation through communication, dissemination, engagement and exploitation measures’ together with INMUSC with its focus on the management of project communication as well as on exploitation of project results including IP Management.

Q&A

In what part of the patient journey will your institution most likely contribute?

In its role as co-leader of Work Package 8, EURICE will be particularly active in the later stages of the patient journey - helping to transform research outputs into tangible benefits for patients. As the project evolves and results mature, EURICE will play a key role in sustainability planning and in defining exploitation pathways - critical steps to ensure that project outcomes are adopted in real-world settings and contribute to better patient care in the long term.

What long-term impacts do you envision of your contribution?

EURICE’s contribution is designed to ensure that the results of the AutoPiX project extend far beyond its duration, delivering lasting value to the healthcare ecosystem and, ultimately, to patients.

Our contribution will help create a roadmap for the adoption and sustainability of AI-driven health technologies, ensuring that scientific breakthroughs continue to benefit patients well after the project ends.

Why is it so important?

It is essential to ensure that the groundbreaking innovations developed in AutoPiX don’t remain confined to academic publications or technical reports, but instead reach the people who need them most - patients.

EURICE’s work is especially important in the context of healthcare, where timely access to new technologies can significantly improve diagnosis, treatment, and patient quality of life. Without a strategic approach to valorisation and sustainability, even the most promising innovations risk being underused or forgotten.

To sum up, it’s not just about generating results - it’s about ensuring those results create lasting change.
