Maximize the utility of
imaging biomarkers
to the benefit of
patients with arthritis.
Learn more about the project

AutoPiX is a major international project focused on improving healthcare for people with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMDs).

The AutoPiX project brings together pharmaceutical and medical technology partners with leading academic institutions to enhance the use of imaging biomarkers for patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), psoriatic arthritis (PsA), and axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA), collectively known as systemic arthritides.

It aims to develop advanced imaging tools and artificial intelligence (AI) models to better diagnose, monitor, and treat these conditions. These tools will make use of imaging biomarkers—like X-rays, ultrasounds, and MRIs—to provide more precise and personalised care.

Region Hovedstaden

Region Hovedstaden is represented by the Rigshospitalet, Center for Rheumatology and Spine Diseases, Copenhagen Centre for Arthritis Research (COPECARE).

Rigshospitalet, also known as Copenhagen University Hospital, is a highly specialized hospital in Denmark. It covers nearly all medical specialities. The hospital has approximately 40 departments, including the Centre for Rheumatology and Spine Diseases, which houses four research units.

The Copenhagen Centre for Arthritis Research (COPECARE) is a research unit consisting of four professors and more than 30 employees. We are experts in RA, PsA, SpA, and other inflammatory rheumatic diseases. Our research includes interventional, observational, and methodological studies and aims to improve disease diagnostics, treatment, and monitoring.

What is the role of Region Hovedstaden in Autopix

We contribute clinical and imaging data to the AutoPiX consortium and participate in the preparatory and scientific work of work packages 1,2,3,4,5 & 8.

Q&A

In what part of the patient journey will your institution most likely contribute?

Follow-up of patients: specifically monitoring of disease activity and structural progression.

What long-term impacts do you envision of your contribution?

Better monitoring of these aspect will allow detection if patients are worsened, allowing treatment modifications on a more solid background.

Why is it so important?

This will decrease the impact of the disease on the patient, and improve prognosis.
